Special reconstruction. Toni Martínez, shift manager: "Everyone has been incredibly committed"

He has been with Industrias Alegre for 38 years, the last three of which he has spent as shift production manager. So Toni Martínez knows every corner of this plant where he has faced all kinds of problems. But nothing prepared him for what happened on October 29, 2024.

His first impression when he joined the company after the flood was that Alegre would not recover.

However, that same day, the monumental task of recovery began: clearing debris, rescuing molds, and cleaning. Cleaning tirelessly. Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays. For weeks, the factory was filled with volunteers. First, it was people from nearby, and then university students who arrived by bus on weekends and had to be organized.

At the same time, he organized outsourced production. Toni coordinated the deployment of personnel, together with HR, to partner companies and the relocation of more than 60 people to support external manufacturing. "Everyone has been incredibly committed. I would call one morning to ask someone to travel that afternoon, and there were always people willing to do so. They would say, 'I'll talk to my husband and let you know,' and then they would leave for wherever they needed to go."

External experience has served to compare methods and confirm the value of our own team, which has demonstrated its great responsiveness.

But if external production was tough, returning home has been no less so. Because the molds need repairs, the machines need adjustments, and breakdowns and quality adjustments are multiplying. "Between the stress of the DANA and the stress of starting over, I don't know which to choose..."

Despite his accumulated fatigue, Toni remains fully committed to the company. Because for him, Industrias Alegre is more than just his workplace, it is "his home," the place where he has learned everything he knows.

"It's been very tough. But as always at Industrias Alegre, we'll get through this. That's for sure."
